5 Tips for a More Productive Week Ahead

With everything on everyone’s plate, I have been trying to figure out how to manage my time better. 40 hours a week I am sitting at a desk, I have to get sleep sometimes. I also cook, clean,  do laundry, order groceries, spend time with my family and have ministry responsibilities at the church. Oh yeah, I am also a blogger. Life can get very overwhelming and it seems as if you can’t fit everything into the limited ‘free’ hours per day.

Sundays seemed to be the only day that I could truly relax after church. It was also the only day that I could take time to prepare for the week ahead. I created a Sunday routine that allows me to start out the week strong and also be productive during the week. In this post, I am sharing some tips that have worked for me and will inspire you to create your own routine to start your week.

  1. Getting Rest

I’ve found that your week will be most productive if you are well-rested. I like to go to bed in enough time to have between 7-8 hours of rest to start my day.  I also make sure that I take time to complete my daily devotional, prayer and get ready for church.  If you don’t have church service to attend, I would suggest that you sleep in a bit and get up in time to tune into virtual service. Or something that you enjoy doing on Sunday mornings, what that looks like for you may be different. It may be binge-watching some Netflix shows, grabbing some brunch, or getting caught up on social media. But getting rest will help you prepare for what the week may bring.

2. Clean Up

Let’s start the week with a clean slate.  There is no better feeling than waking up to a clean house. So during the week all you have to do is tidy up to maintain.  I like to do laundry on Saturday, and deep clean the entire house on Sunday. I know that it may seem like a lot, but I give myself a 45-minute limit to clean each room in order to stay on task and not get sidetracked. This makes it easier to spot clean during the week. Trust me this is so helpful.

3. Meal Planning & Meal Prepping

Meal planning takes the stress away from trying to figuring out what to cook for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.  This prevents me from spending too much and also cuts down on food waste.  On Sunday’s I also prep our lunches for the week. I use meal prep containers like these. I make enough for us to have lunches at least three days per week and then I pack leftovers to switch it up a bit.

I only cook dinner 3-4 days per week, Sunday dinner, Tuesday night, Thursday, and Friday if need be.  I cook enough to have leftovers for the following night and we typically eat out on Saturdays.  This limits the amount of time I spend in the kitchen and keeps me from burning myself out.  This also allows us to stay on track with our weight loss goals and keeps us from spending money on eating out.

4. Planning the week

I am a huge planner, it’s just my personality.  I am also a To-Do List kind of woman. I have lists for pretty much everything, digitally and on paper.  This task helps me have the most productive week. I personally use multiple planners, I have a catch-all planner, and the other for the daily to-do list. Try to make sure that your list is achievable.

Don’t try to cram too many things into one day and overwhelm yourself. You will get discouraged and won’t accomplish anything. I plan for everything during the week: chores, skincare, personal bible study, time for writing, reading, workouts, bills, and social media. I love my planners and cannot live without them. I am a Happy Planner girl, but you can use a simple planner as well.

5. Setting Goals for the Week

Most of us will set larger goals for the year, but I prefer to also set smaller goals for the week.  I like to take time on Sunday to check the goals from the previous week and set new goals for the coming week. Making sure that I set goals to create content, take time to journal, and also making sure that I set aside some time to take care of myself. I enjoy Sunday setup and self-care Sunday. Taking the time to implement a self-care routine on Sunday’s allows me to refresh and relax for the week. My self-care routine consists of an extensive skincare routine, bubble bath, a nap, and some quality time with my hubby.

I hope that this post has given you some ideas on you can have a more productive week. We can do this.
